When a child sees how his mother struggles to balance between work & home, the minor to major challenges she faces in the journey and what not that she goes
through to keep her head up, I believe that’s when the child learns respect & empathy for others as well. This is where the idea of establishing something on my own takes place. And the best thing I could think of doing something at that time was opening an online business. My Brain Child “Go Go Gorgeous”.
We hear that man builds the house and woman makes it home. I appreciate every woman being solely a housewife and making the house a home. But for me and my son, I say let me contribute too in building the house and I will still make it a home, willingly, out of the love I have for my family.
My son was an infant when I started my online cosmetic business on facebook in 2014. I still remember that I used to carry him in one hand and in the other I was stirring the dishes or cutting the veggies and again replying to my customers. I needed to prove myself to my family as well that my idea is worth investing my time and I am capable enough to manage both home & work. The kitchen became my battle field, where heat & pressure collided, I embraced the challenges.
Then when it was doing great online, I tried to take the bigger step and I opened my first outlet in Chittagong Finlay Square in 2016. It was one of the first shops in Chittagong to have all the imported authentic branded items for spot purchase. But being the only lady in a male dominated shopping mall brought some negativity on the way. It took time to get accepted in the culture. But it wouldn’t be manageable if people around me and my customers didn’t show unmeasurable love and support. Then gradually we are now available at Banani too, serving our customers for almost a decade now.
